Ariel's Grotto

Ariel's Grotto

Absolutely anyone who knows me can tell you I am Disney crazy! Disney will always be my first choice of amazing family adventure that is fun for everyone no matter your age...unless of course you really really hate...FUN!

One of the few complaints I have where Disney is concerned is the food offering available for children and teens. I have always felt restaurants treat children as if they are second-class citizens. My favorite example is the mac & cheese almost anywhere you take your children to eat. The macaroni and cheese is usually bland and should be only offered to people over 65. Nine times out of 10 we always have to ask for an extra side of cheese for macaroni and cheese when it is  not only bland but dry and absorbs the cheese so quickly it becomes tasteless.

Children today have a much better pallet. Children today also care about what they eat. Stop only offering mac & cheese and chicken nuggets to children at restaurants why not offer them steak, baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli with cheese, and fresh sliced fruit instead of the old standby of mac & cheese or chicken nugget. How can we ask children to change their eating behavior if that's all there ever offered? Not to mention the cost is still a fortune and let's face it you're only getting Mac in cheese.

My second complaint is what's considered a children's meal and the age associated with it. A 10-year-old still likes to eat a well-made macaroni and cheese and they may not want a lobster salad. Make sure all patrons understand that if your child under the age of 14 give or  take would like an adult portion off of the children's menus it is available to them. You'll still be charged an arm and a leg but at least your children will eat the food.
Ariel's Grotto had to add sauce, veg was "tasteless" according to my 7 year old. Bummer...

But the plate itself is beautiful in the food looked great but that's about the most I could say. You're really paying to meet the princesses and if you're not happy with that then I would suggest you stand it a one hour line instead for each princess. Ariel's Grotto is still a very magical experience. Sorry Disney...hope you still let me in.
